Located on the western coast of mainland Mexico, Mazatlan’s tropical climate is characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons, and consistently warm to hot air temperatures.
The city spends most of the year in almost continuous draught, barely seeing any precipitation at all from January to June. Throughout the summer months, a dramatic increase in rainfall brings monthly totals to a staggering 175mm until tapering off again mid-October.
Despite very high levels of rainfall from July until October, the city still only sees an average of 10 rainy days per month. When it rains, it pours.
Air temperatures during the dry season range from 16°C to 30°C, and increase slightly to a range of 24°C to 33°C during the wet summer months.
