Rome’s mediterranean climate is characterized by hot, dry summers, and brisk winters. Rainfall accumulation tends to peak mid-autumn and gradually declines throughout the year until the end of summer.
During the summer months, air temperatures can get quite hot, ranging from 18°C to 32°C. In July and August, it’s quite common for the daily highs to be close to 34°C. Monthly precipitation totals less than 40mm, which is starkly contrasted by September and October, which typically surpass 110mm each.
Throughout the winter, average daytime air temperatures sit around 12°C. At night the temperature drops to a chilly 4°C, but rarely surpasses the freezing mark.
