The southwestern port city of Barahona is a warm and sunny destination with distinct rainy seasons that peak and trough in as little as 60 days. For much of the year, Barahona experiences very little monthly rainfall. December through February see an average of 3 rainy days per 30 day cycle, but during the two rainy peaks (which occur from May to June and from September to October respectively) that number can rise to as many as 11 rainy days per 30 day cycle. It’s a tale of two fast-changing seasons.
Most other weather details remain constant for the entire year. Air temperatures float between 20°C and 30°C, rising only slightly in the summer months. Trade winds also produce a gentle breeze year round that provides cooling to the intense mugginess that sits in the air.
