Nova Scotia snowbirds anxiously watch Florida home as Milton hits

This is the fourth time the Canadian family has prepared their Florida home for a hurricane

A Canadian family is anxiously watching Hurricane Milton from Nova Scotia as their Florida home takes a direct hit from the powerful storm.

John MacKay said this is the fourth hurricane they’ve had to prepare for since they bought the home in Parrish, Florida, nearly a decade and a half ago.

Keep up-to-date with the latest Hurricane Milton developments by visiting The Weather Network's hurricane hub.

The home was built to modern hurricane standards and they’ve installed hurricane shutters to protect windows from flying debris.

“I fully expect that we’ll probably have some roof damage, or our pool cage will have some screens blown out,” MacKay said. “But those are all fixable.”
