This time of year can be tough for residents dealing with garbage and organics.
Bears are starting to wake up from hibernation and are searching for food, and on garbage day you can find them sneaking through neighbourhoods in some communities.
In other places, raccoons are an issue.
That prompts some people to leave their garbage bins in their garages - but that presents other potential problems.
Rotting food and waste in the summer can attract maggots. Waste produces methane gas which flies are attracted to, and when they lay their eggs, and in the warmer weather they develop much faster.
