Rain returns to Quebec after a more than two week stretch of dry weather

After a 15-day stretch of dry weather, multiple days of rainfall are taking aim at Quebec this week

Parts of Quebec, including Montreal, have recently basked in the longest dry stretch of the year as the region just recorded 15 days without any rain. That all comes to a soggy end this week however, with the arrival of the fall season ushering in a wetter and cooler pattern overall.

For the next few days, periods of off and on rain will span the province, likely enough to spoil any outdoor plans or activities. A widespread 15-30 mm is expected by Wednesday.

It's not all bad news though. There is high confidence that September will end very warm, with parts of western Quebec sitting well above seasonal values.

Monday through Wednesday:

Rain showers spread across southern Quebec on Monday morning, continuing throughout the day and into parts of Tuesday, as well. While most of Tuesday will be rain-free, there's a chance of a passing shower across the south later in the day.

Periods of steadier rain returns to the region on Wednesday, possibly impacting the morning commute in Montreal.

In all, a widespread 15-30 mm is expected through Wednesday. Certainly not a lot by fall standards, but enough to put a damper on the week, especially after such a long streak of warm and dry September weather.

Warm end to September on tap

There's high confidence for the remainder of September to be above seasonal, sitting 'extremely' above seasonal across western Quebec.

Another massive ridge of high pressure grows across the Great Lakes and Quebec late week, anchoring back into the usual September position. That means temperatures will soar upwards of 15°C above seasonal in the north, and 3-5°C above seasonal in the south.
