Don't expect an abrupt end to the summer season in Ontario this weekend
Ontario welcomes fall with more summertime warmth this weekend, but how long will this warm and dry spell last?
Summer is putting on an impressive grand finale, with two weeks of sunshine and very warm temperatures. But will this weather continue all the way through the weekend?

This weekend won’t match the spectacular weather that we saw last weekend, but it will feature warmer than normal temperatures for late September.
In contrast to the cloud-free skies of this past weekend, we will see a mix of sun and cloudy periods with a threat for a passing showers and thunderstorms (especially Saturday). However, most of the weekend will be rain-fee, and it will still be much drier than most of the weekends that we had this summer.
Friday will resemble every other day this week, with abundant sunshine mixing with increasing clouds late in the day), and very warm temperatures. A light east breeze off Lake Ontario will hold temperatures a degree or two cooler near the west end of the lake, but still well above seasonal.
Friday night will be partly cloudy and mild with a passing shower possible.
Saturday will cloudy with sunny breaks, but we will also see scattered showers and thunderstorms. While most of the day will be rain-free, most places are at risk to have an interruption to any outdoor plans.

Saturday night will be partly cloudy and mild, but a few degrees cooler across cottage country and eastern Ontario.
Sunday will be partly sunny with a passing shower possible, but most places will stay dry. Temperatures across most of southern and eastern Ontario will be a few degrees cooler than what we have seen throughout the week, but still several degrees above seasonal for the official first day of fall.
Meanwhile, southwestern Ontario will feel more like mid-summer.
Chance for rain returns after two week break
Looking ahead to next week, a low pressure system will slowly approach our region with our first chance for widespread rain in two weeks. However, the timing for the arrival of the rain is still uncertain - it could arrive as early as Monday morning or it could hold off until Monday night and Tuesday.
While next week won't be a washout, we should see a couple more periods of much needed rain during the middle and end of next week.
