Airplane skids off runway at Chicago's O'Hare Airport amid snow
The system is also bringing snow to Canada.
Heavy snow contributed to an American Eagle airplane with 38 passengers and 3 crew members aboard sliding off the runway at Chicago O'Hare International Airport Monday morning. The weather caused hundreds of cancellations and delays.
The flight had departed from Greensboro, North Carolina.
The system is part of the same storm that is bringing significant early-season snow to parts of Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada.
All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the plane which is now sitting in the terminal, according to American Airlines spokesperson Ross Feinstein.
This isn't the first winter storm to hit the Chicago area.
Snow blanketed the region on Halloween, prompting several municipalities to postpone trick-or-treating.
The recent bout of snow is coupled with below-seasonal temperatures. It is expected to last into Tuesday.
