PHOTOS: Full hunter's moon illuminates the sky, delights viewers
If you had clear skies Saturday night, you were given a front-row seat to the full hunter's moon and, in some parts of Canada and the world, a lunar eclipse
People across the globe were treated to a stunning spectacle of the full moon Saturday night, also accompanied by a lunar eclipse in some countries.
Saturday's showing was known as the hunter's moon.
Every full moon in the year has a popular moniker, mainly derived from the lunar calendars used by Indigenous Peoples. However, the harvest and hunter's moon, reference colonial American or European folklore.

It wasn't just the full moon on display for parts of Canada and the world, either, for a portion of the evening. At the start of the evening, the moon may have appeared partly dipped in shadow to parts of Atlantic Canada and the Far North.
The full moon nearly made a perfect alignment with the sun and Earth, resulting in it passing through part of Earth's shadow -- giving folks in Europe, Africa and Asia, and even some on Canada's East Coast and in parts of the northern regions, a lunar eclipse in progress.
The timing of it allowed those in Cape Breton, N.S., Newfoundland and Nunavut a partial view of the eclipse, if weather permitted it, just as the moon rose.
