Discover underrated ski destinations on the enchanting East Coast
Don't overlook these East Coast ski destinations
It does take less time to get to the bottom of the ski hill in Nova Scotia compared to the likes of Whistler or Banff, but there’s still plenty of breathtaking scenery to take in as you make multiple runs during your East Coast ski or snowboard outing.
The closest resort to Halifax is Ski Martock, less than an hour’s drive from downtown. Nestled near Windsor, it’s 600 feet high and has seven trails that include a terrain park for snowboarding and free-skiing.
If you’re looking to switch things up a bit, you can head out for a day with your skis at Ski Wentworth. Located in the Wentworth Valley, it boasts 20 trails and tree skiing. Skiers and snowboarders alike are encouraged to wear a kilt during runs once a year as part of a tradition celebrating Robbie Burns, a Scottish poet.
In Cape Breton, you can choose either Ski Ben Eoin or Ski Cape Smokey. Ski Cape Smokey recently installed a gondola, making for a warm ride up to the top. Ski Ben Eoin overlooks Bras D'Or Lake, making for spectacular views as you head down the trails. You can check them out in the video above.
