Images show how much damage hail can do to a plane in just a few seconds
Passengers reportedly saw chunks of the plane flying off.
Earlier this month, Austrian Airlines flight Flight OS434 hit a thunderstorm cell containing hail while in mid-air, causing significant damage.
Images taken by a passenger show significant hail damage, with part of the plane's nose torn off and smashed cockpit windows.
The cockpit crew said the cell wasn't visible on radar.
A Mayday emergency call was made during the June 9 flight from Mallorca, Spain, but the plane arrived safely in Vienna.
Various news outlets reported that passengers experienced turbulence, and they could feel the hail hitting the plane and chunks of the aircraft dislodging and flying past the window.
Austrian Airlines say the terrifying incident only lasted a few seconds, and nobody was injured.
